The Early 24th Century Reading List is centered around several series, all of which I have listed here together. These stories take place from the end of the The Original Series time frame to the beginning of each of the 24th century series' storylines. I have included every story that takes place in this period, the majority of which are standalone, and can be read in any order. So other than for the Stargazer series and the Terok Nor trilogy, there are no obvious "jumping on points" for this reading list.
There are seven main The Lost Era novels, and then four other novels which referenced 'The Lost Era' brand. There is also the Stargazer series, which takes place in this era, and several other standalone The Original Series and The Next Generation stories which take place in this time frame. Characters from The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and New Frontier are featured throughout.
Besides the primary stories, several additional novels, short stories, and comics are connected due to various references in other books, or to other books. These references are mentioned in the notes.
Two novels are connected by the crossover series Double Helix (which ties into New Frontier.) Fourteen short stories or novellas are connected: one from Mere Anarchy (which references several tings in the Lit-verse), two from Enterprise Logs (which references several things in the Lit-verse), two from Tales From the Captain's Table (which is thematically connected to the Lit-verse spanning Tales From the Captain's Table), one from Deep Space Nine: The Lives of Dax (which ties into the Deep Space Nine Post-Finale Series), seven from New Frontier: No Limits (which ties into the New Frontier series), and one from Seven Deadly Sins (which ties into three Lit-verse series.) Various references in parts of IDW Comics' Star Trek #400 connect a story from that work.
The Early 24th Century Reading List stops after the beginning of each of the various 24th century series and all storylines transfer to their appropriate subsequent reading lists.
Dark blue denotes the primary narrative. Read these for the bare bones story. Light blue denotes the expanded storyline. Read any or all of these to go a bit deeper. The white denotes every other connected story, regardless of overall continuity.
Hover for notes. As always, not every reference to every other story is mentioned, just the one I chose as most important to show the expanding Lit-verse web.
